Embark on an unforgettable journey to the heart of Tibetan culture on the Everest Base Camp Trek. This spectacular hike takes you from Rongbuk to the world’s highest base camp, offering a blend of adventure, stunning landscapes, and a deep dive into local culture.

Starting in the vibrant city of Lhasa, this tour immerses you in rich cultural experiences and an awe-inspiring overland adventure. Along the way, you’ll traverse high mountain passes, serene lakes, and picturesque alpine villages, all while being captivated by majestic views of towering peaks. During this extraordinary journey, you’ll have the opportunity to explore ancient palaces, delve into historic monasteries, and meet the nomadic people who call Tibet home. One of the tour’s highlights is the scenic hike from Rongbuk Monastery to Everest Base Camp, providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience of standing in the shadow of the world’s highest mountain.

The Tibet Everest Base Camp Trek is an 8-9 day overland expedition that can commence from various cities across mainland China, including Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, or Xi’an. Alternatively, Kathmandu in Nepal serves as a preferred starting point due to its streamlined visa and travel permit processing, as well as its convenient gateway to Lhasa with competitive flight deals.

After an awe-inspiring train journey from Beijing, Chengdu, or Xi’an, or a flight from Kathmandu, you’ll embark on a cultural and historical exploration of Lhasa, Shigatse, and Gyantse. From there, an adventurous drive across the vast Tibetan plateau leads you to the renowned Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp. Prepare to be rewarded with breathtaking views of the majestic northern face of Mount Everest. After your base camp visit, you’ll continue your journey along the scenic Friendship Highway, either returning to Kathmandu or venturing further to Lhasa.

Our operations are year-round, but the best time to visit is from April to November. During the winter months (January to March), harsh weather conditions and certain political considerations restrict accessibility. During this period, our experienced tour guides and drivers take a well-deserved break to spend quality time with their families.

Trip Reviews

The monastery stay was unexpectedly peaceful. Seeing Everest from the Tibetan side gave a totally different feel — grand and still. The altitude hit me a bit, but the guides kept us safe and hydrated.

Prerana Basnet

I got the shots I came for. The stark contrast between the dusty plateau and towering Everest made for stunning frames. The roads in were long, but the views made up for it.

Javier Morales

I finally made it to Everest’s north face. Views were crisp, the group small, and the support crew excellent. It’s colder and more rugged than I expected — dress accordingly.

Sonam Dorji

Different from the Nepal side — more remote and windswept. Rongbuk Monastery was a spiritual highlight. The base camp approach here felt wild and isolated, which I loved.
