This higher education center for monks offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. The hike takes approximately 45 minutes. Return to Thimphu in the evening and spend the night at a hotel within the city.
Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3,088 meters/10,130 feet), where on clear days, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayan ranges. Visit the 108 chortens, meticulously crafted by Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo. In Punakha, immerse yourself in the local culture by exploring the Punakha Dzong, perched at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Later, take a leisurely stroll through the charming Metshina Village and embark on a 20-minute walk to the Chimi Lhakhang, a revered monastery dedicated to the Divine Madman, renowned for its blessings of fertility.

In the morning, proceed to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a temple constructed by the Queen of Bhutan to promote peace and stability. Subsequently, return to Thimphu, making a detour to visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan, which was constructed in 1627. In the evening, visit the Takin Zoo, where you can observe Bhutan’s national animal, the takin. Finally, ascend to Sangaygang for panoramic views of the Thimphu valley.

Following breakfast, embark on a journey to Paro, where you will visit Kichu Lhakhang, a venerable temple dating back to the 7th century. After lunch, proceed to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that valiantly repelled Tibetan invasions in the 17th century.
